Default Differences Harmattan API - Meego 1.2 Harmattan API

Hi,

can someone explain to me the differences between
Harmattan API and Meego 1.2 Harmattan API?
The page
http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/Introduction.html

has two links
Harmattan Platform API Reference
and
Meego 1.2 Harmattan Platform API Reference

And I have two different Harmattan targets in my
QtCreator setup. Again, one is called Harmattan and
the other one Meego 1.2 Harmattan.
Meego 1.2 Harmattan looks like Meego with some nokia specific APIs,
but isn't Harmattan already nokia specific?
What is the purpose of this?

Meego 1.2 is the preferred API for any Meego developement,
Meego 1.2 Harmattan API with nokia specific APIs only for N950/N9,
and Harmattan API includes those APIs which are "below" the Meego
API and more like a relict from Maemo 6 Harmattan?

I am a bit lost in documentation.
Nicolai

MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan API is roughly the MeeGo API. It's not named just MeeGo 1.2 as this one gets packaged into deb, knows about aegis, etc.

Harmattan API is the above + the Nokia stuff (accounts, ovi, sharing, etc)

Thank you achipa, some more questions :-)

What about meegotouch api?
I think it isn't the preferred developer API as the whole
API documentation is labeled as "deprecated".

Sure, the devkit programm is mostly for portable Qt Quick applications,
so the application will run on any nokia meego and symbian device.

But typically the users will request device/platform specific applications, too.
And I can not find any official API for statusbar plugins for example or
the event view (I know there is a python API from thp and another
third party Qt API, but no official API),
or plugins for the lockscreen. Are there any plans for an official API?

And what about desktop or homeview widgets? I can not belief there isn't anything
for this. (no weather widgets, no stock widgets ....)

Correct, there is no widget area on the home screens. Events view has sort of replaced it.
You can have weather on that screen though, see the top right corner.
