Unhappy which distribution should I switch to?

Hi folks,

I always had hope for MeeGo, I wated to buy a Nokia N9 even if it is not available here in Germany and as I never could afford it I bought an Asus X101.
Meego worked nice but after a zypper dist-upgrade it won't start up anymore, I only get some kind of grub and neither the old nor the new kernel are going to start, the boot manager appers in a loop. As chromium is very old and I am not in the mood to fix it or reinstall that deprecated system again, I will switch to something else.

I really liked the fast startup time, only some seconds on that lame machine... I want to try Lubuntu but I think it will have a much higher boot time. Tizen is not yet avialable, Maemo and Chromium OS also seem dead. Stephen Elop ruined it...

Do you have any ideas for slim alternatives to MeeGo?

Greetz!

It is an Asus X101, a Netbook with SSD and a very slow CPU.

I'm still using MeeGo with the understanding "he's dead Jim". Intel is still (sorta) supporting it but that will end. Maybe Tizen will be the answer. Maybe. But considering that netbooks are so yesterday, I wonder how much development will go that way compared to the more trendy stuff.

I do wish they would update Chromium. MeeGo's version is gettin' quite long in the tooth.

Me again...

I installed Lubuntu now and it works like a charm. No problems so far. Startup is a little bit lower than MeeGo, maybe MeeGo used some tricks here? With MeeGo the Bios information wasn't visible, now it is shown and it takes some seconds until the kernel is loaded.
The rest is better than in Meego imho. If anyone wants a more fancy GUI maybe he should try Unity or KDE for Netbooks with some plasma addons.
