Default Does Tizen Matter, if buying MeeGo netbook?

Amazon.de offers the Acer Aspire MeeGo @ Euro 273; in a recent search, Amazon.de price was Euro 222. (specs might have been different).

Acer Aspire One D257 25,7 cm (10,1 Zoll) Netbook (Intel Atom N570, 1,6GHz, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel GMA 3150, MeeGo) Euro 273 inkl. MwSt.

I'd buy the D257, but I'm not understanding the extent to which Tizen's development effects the on-going development of MeeGo. Product cycle is so fast--or half-life so short that I worry about shift or drift. (z.b., how did MS Word's engineers come up with a "contextual ribbon" as substitute for Menus? Why are there 3 iterations of iPad in 3 years (I do know why, really)

I'll appreciate any thoughts. Many thanks.

Best regards,

Richard Moss

In a nutshell ---- MeeGo is yesterday. Tizen is tomorrow. Maybe.

Thanks, daveg. The D257 has been on offer for year--about as long as I've puzzled over the complexity of an off-shore transaction and Intel's moving to Tizen.

Tizen, maybe?
Too often, it is maybe. From late 2010 through to Jan 11, I watched the evolving Notion Adam Ink & its charming Rohan Shravan write weekly updates; in December, Notion did a pre-purchase, by invitation offering to a large fan base--one able to crash their server or back-office. Notion did ship in Spring 2011--but like other mfg before, a beta release with a long punch list.

A google on Tinzen took me to developer site (?) tizen.org, where I infer from a laundry list of projects, forks, & c. that Tizen is, as you write,

. It may make more sense to run a linux distribution. Actually, Guilliam (LinuxCD, France) said if unit can run MeeGo, it could run other distributions, a hypothesis I've not tested.

Thanks for heads up & if you've time, check out Notion, now Adam II---if only to see a very polished splash screen, blog archive, & c.

Best regards,

Richard
