Default Nokia N950 developer device program *extended*

The good news is that we are getting 50 Nokia 950 developer devices in addition to the 250 of the initial program!

Developers can find the requirements and instructions to apply here. In brief, candidates must show open source code published and functional in MeeGo Harmattan or neighbor platforms.

This time the candidates will be public and your feedback in this thread will be considered as part of the evaluation.

I'd just like to say, that SpeedEvil - 16 on the wiki list - is awesome. I remember a few years back, his excellent work on hacking and documenting the OpenMoko project - and more recently with the N900 too.

I'd like to put in a good word for SpeedEvil (Ian Stirling). He's a clearly gifted engineer who's put a lot of time and effort into the Maemo Community over the past few years. Although his efforts tend to run to the low levels of the platform, in particular I'll point to his contributions to the USB host-mode effort for the N900, and various other hardware-related projects (particularly power consumption and battery monitoring).

Unfortunately he's one of those contributors whose efforts are often overlooked thanks to the transient (and difficult to qualify) nature of IRC. Speaking as someone who's spent many hours idling there, I can attest to both his technical expertise and enthusiasm for assisting others. He's one contributor I believe will best benefit the platform and its community with the advantage of a device.

I completely second the previous 2 posts. Speedevil is the heart of N900 documentation on maemo wiki, without which we probably wouldn't have seen a lot of the more involved applications

His contributions to H-E-N N900 USB hostmode been essential and he definitely is one of the co-authors of this FOSS package.

I'd like to put in a good word for durriken (Juhana Jauhiainen).
MeBook is the eBook reader I enjoyed most on the N900. I would love to see a Harmattan QML version combined with something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0w93UcuxKg

I'd like to recommend Aenbacka as the author of Qspot he is definitely a valued contender for the N950 in my mind. He have been a very good community member and always answered questions and posted updates on his progress. A really nice guy. Qspot is also the best Spotify client for the N900 and are needed for the N950/N9 as well.

I'd like to recommend John Brooks, he was invaluable to me during some intense hacking periods on saesu, and I'd certainly like to encourage him to continue to contribute as much as possible. He's a very talented hacker in many other areas, and I'm sure he'd do the program proud.

Would like to recommend candidate 30: Faenil (Andrea Barnabei). He's been doing great stuff on Symbian and could benefit the MeeGo community. He's got skills and is looking at MeeGo to move forward with some new projects.

i like to recommend earthling. as he has already a bunch of meego ported apps like rss. irc. xmpp. etc to be optimized by the test on the device. these apps are mainstream and mostly used by the community. thanks to bernd. these several apps are really needed in the meego app market.
